The public is invited to the Ellsworth Adirondack and History Collection dedication ceremony which will take place at 3p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the North Warren Central School. Dr. Randy Ellsworth, former Chestertown resident now living in Kansas, offered his collection of Adirondack books to the school and Bernie McCann interim Superintendent immediately recognized the generosity and importance of this offer!!!
So, during the past 6 months a committee of school and community members has been diligently working to prepare the books for circulation. This collection will be housed in the school library, within a room which has been transformed into a cozy and tranquil Adirondack reading retreat. The room renovation and new atmosphere was the result of the collaboration of several school departments: Home and Careers, Art, Home Economics and Life Skills Classes. Also included in this collection will be elementary “Adirondack Themed Books” with monies provided by the Ross Lambert Foundation and Dr. Ellsworth.
This special dedication will begin at 3:00 in the school library. Adirondack music will be provided by Dan Berggren. The refreshments served will include cookies based on old family recipes supplied by Dr. Ellsworth and prepared by our Home Economics department.
Note: The Ellsworth Adirondack and History Collection will be available for public and student use beginning March 14, 2016, ONLY during school hours with an appointment. Anyone interested in viewing the books and library can set up this appointment with Jody McAvey, at 518-494-3015 x 760. All books will be cataloged on the school website and some may be checked out by the public.
