There is no doubt that an active community service culture exists here in the North Country! Just look around at the work done by The Rotary, The Chamber of Commerce, The Helpers Fund, the North Warren PTO, the Tri-Lakes Business Alliance and so many other groups of local caring people who consistently create opportunities where citizens can “give back” to their community. This volunteerism allows for building personal self esteem as well as assisting in a better/fuller life for our citizens. We are proud that the awareness and the importance of being an active citizen was recognized by the Board of Education.
Community Service is now a Graduation Requirement at North Warren. Board of Education Policy now reflects a 20 hour requirement over 4 years (5 hours per year) beginning with the Class of 2020.( the freshman class of September 2016) The process is beginning with the Class of 2017 as they will be required to have completed 5 hours prior to Graduation.

It has been shown that exposure and repeated access to volunteer opportunities is needed to ensure life-long patterns. Most if not all of the young people attending NW are already meeting this hourly mandate due to their current contributions and “existing” love and desire to make their Adirondack communities better for all.
